N.Ky. girls track all-stars




        Athlete of the year: Christen Jones, Boone County, senior - won state Class AAA 100-meter hurdles (14.94 seconds) and 300 hurdles (46.47) and took third in the 200 dash (26.26); won those three plus 100 dash (12.34) at regional.

        Coach of the Year: Dave Schuh, Bishop Brossart: Led his team to a fifth straight Class A state title.

        3,200 relay: Bishop Brossart (Staci Bertram, junior; Katie Schwegmann, senior; Megan Uebel, junior; Stephanie Clark sophomore) - won Class A state (10:03.77).

        100-meter hurdles: Julie Armstrong, St. Henry, junior - She won Class A state in 15.73 seconds.

        800 relay: Bishop Brossart (Michelle McCluskey, junior; Stephanie Dierig, junior; Stephanie Waters, freshman; Sarah Smith, senior) - took third in state Class A state with a time of 1:50.28

        1,600 run: Meghan Crowe, Notre Dame, junior: won Class AAA regional (5:23.85) and took eighth at state (5:23.05).

        400 relay: Notre Dame (Mandy Hearn, senior; Abby Ochse, junior; Monica Averdick, senior; Kelly Ketron, junior): Placed fifth in Class AAA state (52.23)

        400 dash: Tara Sanker, Bishop Brossart, sophomore: Places second state Class A (1:01.62).

        800 run: Stephanie Clark, Bishop Brossart, sophomore: finished second in Class A state (2:22.47).

        3,200 run: Pam Gerken, Ludlow, senior: Finished third in Class A state (12:12.18)

        1,600 relay: Bellevue (Autumn Jadwin, junior; Maria Walters, senior; Natasha Thompson, sophomore; Nicole Dodd, freshman): won Class A region (4:11.58).

        Shot put: Valerie Raisor, Newport, sophomore: won Class AA state (36-9 3/4); and +Beth Blackburn, Ludlow, sophomore -- won class A state (34-1/2).

        High jump: Susanne Funken, Ryle, senior - won Class AAA state (5-4); will attend the University of Kentucky

        Pole vault: Jennifer Hartig, Bishop Brossart, senior - won class A (10-6)

        Discus: Becky Popham, Notre Dame, sophomore: won Class AAA region (99-6) and finished sixth at state (101-7)

        Long jump: Christina Jones, Newport, sophomore: placed second in Class AA region (16- 1/2).

        Triple jump: Megan Uebel, Bishop Brossart junior - won Class A state (33-6 1/2)
