Move brings UK to NCAA limit

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior forward Marquis Estill ag reed to relinquish his scholarship in order to bring the Wildcats to the NCAA limit.

The decisions by Keith Bogans and Tayshaun Prince last week to return to the Wildcats next season gave the team 14 scholarship players — one over the NCAA allowance.

Coach Tubby Smith said Estill's decision “makes him a hero in my mind.”

Smith said the decision won't change Estill's status as a top reserve. The 6-foot-9 Estill, from Richmond, Ky., averaged 7.0 points and four rebounds in 14 minutes last season. He led the team with 33 blocked shots.

“I'm very proud of his family and their willingness to help our Kentucky basketball program,” Smith said.
