Congrats

Mount St. Joseph honors Kelly

Virginia Kelly was honored for leadership and service at the annual honors convocation of the College of Mount St. Joseph. She is the daughter of Betty and Chuck Kelly of Delhi Township.

OU dean's list

Joan Steele, a junior chemistry and computer science major at Ohio University in Athens, was named to the dean's list for the eighth consecutive quarter.

The graduate of Ursuline Academy was also awarded a Pfizer grant to study chemistry at Ohio and Cornell universities this summer.

Tree City again

Montgomery has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. It is the fifth consecutive year Montgomery has received the national recognition.

A community must meet four standards for designation: a tree board, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.

MU profs lauded

Two professors were recipients of Outstanding Professor Awards given by the Associated Student Government at Miami University in Oxford.

Dennis Sullivan, professor of economics from Oxford, and Steven Bauer, professor of English from Bath, Ind., were this year's honorees.

Criteria for the award include interaction with students outside the classroom, challenging students to think critically, and developing and fostering students' love of learning.

Alumnus honored

Raymond Walters College honored former students with Distinguished Alumni Awards. One of this year's recipients was Bob Bozeman, who played a crucial role in the development of the information technology industry. As a Raymond Walters student, Mr. Bozeman spent hours making his first major computer application work — software for automating the Raymond Walters College library.

He has since been in senior management positions for high-tech companies such as Wang Labs, Altos, Vetronix and others. As a creator of Angel Investors, he helped launch Internet successes such as Ask Jeeves, Google, Spinner.com, LoudCloud, PayPal, X.com and more than 100 other startup companies in less than four years. He has also been a mentor to companies he helped launch.
