Caddie gets scholarship

        Ashley Lehmann of McAuley High School has received a full tuition-and-housing Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship. The award is given based on participation in a golf club's caddie program for at least two years, academic performance and extracurricular activities.

        Ashley plans to attend Miami University, Oxford, and major in business law.

McNick student attends D.C. forum

               Andrea Randolph joined other high school juniors and seniors from around the country to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law in Washington, D.C. The students spent a week meeting with lawyers and government officials to learn about the dif ferent types of law and participate in mock trials dealing with current Supreme Court cases.

        Andrea, who'll be a senior at McNicholas High School, is the daughter of Rose and Charles Randolph of Amelia.

Scout moves up to Eagle rank

               Stephen Whipkey, of Troop 194, earned the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout Award. As his community-service project, he designed paths, secured donated materials and scheduled volunteer teams of fellow Scouts and parents to rebuild walking trails throughout Pine Hill Lakes Park in Mason.

        Stephen, who attends Mason High School, is the son of Gloria and David Whipkey of Mason.
       

UC grad awarded Navy fellowship

               Cmdr. Donald Sallee, U.S. Navy Medical Corps, has been awarded the Navy Fellowship for Emergency Medicine. He will perform his fellowship duties at Oregon Health Science University in Portland.

        Cmdr. Sallee, a graduate of Oak Hills High School and the University of Cincinnati Medical School, is the son of Bette and Don Sallee of Delhi Township.

Summer in Japan

               Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. has awarded Heather Haynes of Loveland a scholarship for a summer in Japan through Youth For Understanding International Exchange. The award is based on academics, community involvement, interests and es says.

        Heather will spend six weeks with a host family. The Loveland High School student is the daughter of Nyoka and David Haynes.
