ALEXANDRIA — Diana Camacho won her second straight title at the Northern Kentucky Women's Amateur tournament, defeating Anna McCord 5 and 4 Thursday at A.J. Jolly Golf Course.

“This one was a little harder,” said Camacho, of Crittenden. “This course played a little tougher than Twin Oaks did (last year).”

It didn't show, though. Camacho, who plays for NKU, was 4-up after five holes, a stretch that included a birdie.

McCord, 44, of Highland Heights, struggled from the beginning. Her opening tee shot traveled less than 75 yards.

“I wasn't nervous,” McCord said. “I just didn't hit it.”

McCord rebounded a little the next two holes. Her par on No.6 halved that hole, and a 10-foot chip-in for birdie one hole later cut Camacho's lead to 3-up.

“First time I parred that (No.6) hole all week; first time I hit the green all week,” McCord said. “That was helpful.”

But Camacho expanded her lead to 6-up by winning three straight to open the back nine.
