Bonds Watch: No homers

The Associated Press

SEATTLE — San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds has slowed down to Mark McGwire's 1998 pace after failing to hit a home run in the Giants' 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners Friday night.

Last month, Bonds, who hit his major league-leading 40th home run Thursday night, was nearly three weeks ahead of McGwire's pace to 70. But Bonds went 12 games without a home run before Thursday night.

Bonds had an RBI single Friday and went 1-for-5.
