By Walt Schaefer
The Cincinnati Enquirer
QUESTION: As the city manager system ends, is there available a summary of city managers of Cincinnati and their dates served? - Martin Walsh, Mount Washington
ANSWER: This inquiry was turned over to the Enquirer's library staff, who came up with the list of city managers: Clarence Osborne Sherill, 1926-30; C.A. Dykstra, 1930-37; Clarence Osborne Sherill, 1937-44; Wilbur Ralph Kellogg, 1944-54; Charles Adair Harrell, 1954-63; William Charles Wichman, 1963-68; Richard Kra bach, 1968-72; E. Robert Turner, 1972-75; William V. Donaldson, 1975-79; Sylvester Murray, 1979-86; Scott Johnson, 1986-90; Gerald Newfarmer, 1990-93; John Shirey, 1993 to present.
Q: At the corner of Central Parkway and Sycamore, downtown, construction work was completed on new walk lights and median. The median extends into the crosswalk and you either have to walk into the street toward oncoming traffic going south on Sycamore or on the dirt part of the median. Will this be corrected? -Debbie Ellison,
Downtown
A: Cincinnati Traffic Engineer Steve Bailey said work on the median at this intersection is incomplete. Plans call for a concrete pedestrian walk to be added across the median. It will be completed within a month.
Q: Why was the timing cycle for the traffic light at the intersection of Winton Road and Kings Run Drive in Winton Terrace changed to stop Winton traffic for such an interminable period of time? Instead of a regular light cycle, why not have the traffic light triggered only as needed by vehicles exiting Kings Run? - Bill Cates, Springfield Township A. Mr. Bailey said the old pavement and sensors, were shaved off to make way for new. The paving contractor will install a new sensor system with the new pavement within three weeks..
