Bonds Watch: No homer

The Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas — If Barry Bonds fails to homer today, he would fall behind Mark McGwire's record pace for the first time since he hit nine homers in six games from May 17-22.

Bonds has just one homer the past 19 games after going 1-for-2 with two walks in the Giants' 10-2 victory over the Texas Rangers Tuesday.

Bonds has 40 homers in 94 games — matching McGwire's total after the same number of games in 1998, when he hit a record 70.

Bonds leads the majors in walks with 94. He was 1-for-7 with six walks in the three-game series.

Eric Davis, starting just his 20th game this season, had a two-run homer and five RBI for the Giants.
