HAMILTON James Sedan Jr., accused of raping a 17-year-old girl and killing her boyfriend in St. Clair Township on Thursday, will stay in jail for now.
At Mr. Sedan's arraignment Friday, Municipal Court Judge John G. Rosmarin set no bond. Mr. Sedan, 31, is being held in the Butler County Jail, where he has been since his arrest Thursday.

He is charged with aggravated murder and rape.
He will appear at a preliminary hearing in Butler County Common Pleas Court at 3 p.m. Aug. 8. At that time a judge will appoint a defense attorney.
Early Thursday, Mr. Sedan allegedly shot Ronald Thennis, 20, of Watertown, S.D., and dumped his body in the Great Miami River. Butler County sheriff's deputies said Mr. Sedan knew the victims, who were in the area to visit relatives.
Coroner Richard Burkhardt said Friday that Mr. Thennis died from a shot to the back of his head with a .22-caliber weapon. An autopsy conducted Friday revealed that Mr. Thennis was also shot in the chin. He was shot at close range. The shooter couldn't have missed, Dr. Burkhardt said.
Test results for drugs are not ready.
Brad Kraemer, spokesman for the sheriff's office, said deputies know little about Mr. Thennis, but are continuing to investigate.
All we have is that he had been around here for a short time, Mr. Kraemer said.
The girl, also of Watertown, told deputies that Mr. Sedan raped her after shooting her boyfriend and dumping his body into the river. She escaped and called the sheriff's office at 6:30 a.m.
She led them to the crime scene a wooded area about 125 feet from the river. Deputies followed muddy tire tracks to Mr. Sedan's house on Cherokee Drive.
Late Wednesday, the girl and Mr. Thennis had socialized along the river with Mr. Sedan, deputies said.
