Promotions & new on the job




        • Michelle L. Class has been named marketing manager at Barnes, Dennig & Co. Ltd., certified public accountants and advisers. Ms. Class is a 1997 graduate of Northern Kentucky University where she earned her bachelor's degree in organizational communication. She will lead the strategic marketing efforts of the firm. She has been with the company since 1999, previously as marketing coordinator.

        • Kelly Houck has joined SS&G Financial Services as an associate, franchise accounting, and Robert Mullins has joined as an associate, accounting and auditing/tax.

        • Keri Grubbs has been appointed communications specialist at Cintech Solutions.

        • Kathryn E. Merchant, president and CEO of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Council on Foundations, a Washington-based, nonprofit membership association of grant-making foundations and corporations.

        • Steve Merkt has been named director of facilities services for Eagle Realty Group, a full-service commercial real estate company. Mr. Merkt will oversee the management of building operations for more than 10 Greater Cincinnati properties occupied by the Western-Southern Enterprise of financial services companies. He has more than 25 years of facilities operations experience in the insurance industry. He was director of facilities at Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

        • Karin Benjamin has been named director of education at West Chester Sylvan Center, and Mary Ellen Moore has joined as director to assist the executive center director, Sue Criss.

        • Lisa Williams has joined Northern Kentucky Family Health Centers Inc. as development director, and David Landwehr as chief financial officer.

        • Dr. Kate Middendorf is now practicing veterinary medicine at the Pioneer Valley Animal Clinic on Madison Pike in Covington. Dr. Middendorf graduated from the University of Kentucky and Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine

        • Denise Goldrich has joined the Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau as its newest addition to the military sales staff. Ms. Goldrich will be selling Northern Kentucky to prospective military reunion groups.

        • Joe Geigle has been named director of human resources at Fort Hamilton Hospital, replacing Jim Korb, who retired after 31 years. Lori Deaton has been named manager of public relations and marketing, and Sara Deem director of operational services.

        • Dianna L. Shelton has joined Hilton Greater Cincinnati Airport as sales manager.

        • M. Dianne Mason has joined Furnier & Thomas LLP as an associate, practicing in the areas of labor and employment law, and Edwin P. Morrow III has become a counsel with the firm, practicing in tax and estate planning.

        • Robert H. Smith has joined American Express as personal financial advisor in Florence. Mr. Smith will also operate from a second facility in Blue Ash.He will consult with clients on a one-to-one basis to help them identify their most important financial goals and determine an appropriate course of action to achieve those goals. He had previously been employed in the commercial real estate industry in property management. He earned his master's degree at the Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago.

        • Margaret K. Kaiser has joined the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP as a summer associate in the Cincinnati office.

        • Steve Ries has been named vice president of sales and marketing at Loth Mbi. Mr. Ries will be responsible for managing the sales team. He was vice president of sales for general polymers, a division of the Sherwin Williams Co. He has more than 10 years experience in sales management and marketing. He earned his undergraduate degree in marketing and his master's degree from the University of Cincinnati.

        • The following have joined Sibcy Cline Realtors as residential real estate specialists: Irene Hasekoester, Northern Hills, and Tony Windholtz, Northwest.

        • Margo A. Spence has been named executive director of First Step Home, a residential drug and alcohol treatment program for women and their children, aged 12 and under. Ms. Spence has an extensive background of social service work, specializing in women's issues. For the past 14 years, she has worked at Talbert House, managing women's halfway houses, a minimum security jail treatment program and an assessment unit. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and holds a master's degree from Xavier University.

        • Dr. Andrew Ringer has joined the Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute in Cincinnati as neurological surgeon.

        • Kathy McMullen has joined William M. Mercer Inc. as client manager in the Cincinnati office. Ms. McMullen is a career human resource professional with 18 years of experience. She has worked for two large firms headquartered in Cincinnati, a financial services firm and an international food products company. Her experience includes employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, and recruiting.

        • Beth Malone has been named senior design director at Libby Perszyk Kathman; Susanne Schneider has been named associate account executive, and Deb Paris Evans has joined the company as quality assurance coordinator.

        • Brian Stickler has joined 84 Lumber Co. as manager train ee in Springdale, and Shawn Johnson has been named co-manager in Cleves.

        • David Smith has joined A.M. Kinney Inc. as civil engineer.

        • Fred Ribariu, Stephen Corson, Melissa Dalton and Terry Daspit have joined Architecture One as associates.

        • The following have been appointed board members at Beech Acres: John C. Bloomstrom, John Bryant, Florence DeWitt, Cindy S. Getty, Marie Michel-Tucker and Steven G. Rolls.

        • Joe Congedo has joined Smith & Schaefer as local hospital equipment sales representative.

        • Rhonda K. Kanet, president and chief executive officer of Kanet Productions Inc., has bought all company shares and is now sole owner of the 16-year-old advertising agency. Jane Knauber Baker, art director, has been named vice president.

Awards & honors

        • Carl Adlon, case manager at CRI, a mental health agency, has been honored by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill with an award for Outstanding Achievement in Adult Case Management.

        • Deloris Hawkins, senior financial adviser with American Express Financial Advisors, has received the President's Recognition Award.

        • Jay Brant, surgical sales representative at Haemonetics Corp., Cincinnati, has received the Surgical Sales Person of the Year Award.

        • Auralinx Communication LLC received the John J. Frank SCORE Client of the Year Award.

        • Jeff Lueders, public affairs manager for LifeCenter, an organ recovery organization, received the Bronze Quill Award for feature writing from the International Association of Business Communicators.

        • Horizon Productions Inc. won a Bronze Award at the 34th annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival for Film & Video Production in the Corporate Communication Category for Argosy Casino & Hotels' “Best Face Forward” videotape.

New businesses

        • Yummie, Yummie, an international food market at 7523 Reading Road, has opened, featuring specialty food items from Russia, eastern Europe, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Israel, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova and Ukraine.

        • Western Hills Outlet Center has opened at 5334 Sidney Road. Brothers Vic and Allan Lassandro are the owners and operators of the office furnishings store.

Relocations

               • Serta Mattress Co., division of Adam Wuest Corp., has moved from 645 Linn St. to 10975 Medallion Drive.
