What's the Buzz?
'Ultra' restroom back at state fair
Forget the cotton candy, corn dogs or Tilt-a-Whirl, here's a real attraction at the Ohio State Fair: a Charminized restroom.
Yes, back by popular demand, Procter & Gamble Co.'s Charmin toilet tissue is offering fairgoers the best seat in the house with a freshly painted restroom featuring aromatherapy, soothing music, regular maintenance and, of course, Charmin Ultra bath tissue. Last year, more than 345,000 fairgoers, or more than a third who attended, visited the specially outfitted Charmin Ultra restroom at the Ohio State Fair.
P&G said its research found almost three out of four visitors to the Charmin restroom last year told at least three others about it. That's what you call market coverage. The program was so successful, P&G is back this year and expanded to 14 other of the nation's largest fairs.
Forget the tons of ice cream and french fries consumed at the fair, P&G estimates fairgoers will unravel 9,300 rolls of Charmin Ultra by the time the exhibition ends Aug. 19.
