YMCA honors top local volunteers

        The Great Miami Valley YMCA has honored four individuals and a family as Volunteers of the Year. They are:

        Roberta Elza, Sue Story, and Mary Ann Sapp of the Hamilton Central branch; Elizabeth Majtenyi of the Fairfield branch; and Pennie, Brian, Connor, Taylorand Lesleigh Childs of the Hamilton West branch.

Makes dean's list

               Nikki Jaspers, a freshman in the College of Allied Health Services, was named to the winter and spring dean's lists at the University of Cincinnati.

        The graduate of Mount Notre Dame High School is the daughter of Gina and Jerry Jaspers of Reading.

Wins scholarship

               Daniel Dean is the recipient of a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to attend Berea College in Berea, Ky. He was selected on the basis of academic achievement, community service, leadership potential and financial need.

        A graduate of Aiken High School, he is the son of Deborah and Richard Chaney of Price Hill.

Passes pilot's test

               Erin Fabe, of Kenwood, earned her Private Pilot's Certificate by passing an oral and flight exam with a Federal Aviation Administration designated flight examiner. She is enrolled in the Aviation Technology Professional Pilot Program at the University of Cincinnati-Clermont College.

        When she completes the two-year program, she will have earned an associate of applied science degree and a commercial pilot certificate.

Scholastic honors

               Anne Marie Peet has received the Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Scholarship to the University of Cincinnati College of Business Administration. She also received the university's Cincinnatus Century Scholarship.

        The daughter of Joyce and Larry Peet of Springfield Township is a McAuley High School graduate.

Latin perfection

               Six students attending Summit Country Day School achieved perfect scores on the National Latin Exam. They were:

        Jeannette Holm, Tim Keck, Ben Bromley, Matt Salter, Philip Hall and Bobby Oakwood.

        It was the fourth consecutive year that Mr. Hall and Mr. Oakwood have earned perfect scores.
