Today's Company: Fabulous Frames & Art

        Edging Into Business: In 1981, Ken and Carol Carl decided to ride the frame-it-yourself wave by buying a frame shop in the Northgate area. Soon the fad faded, and the couple transformed Make-A-Frame into Fabulous Frames & Art, which offers full-service custom framing in an art gallery setting. The Carls have since opened a store in Montgomery as well as one on Fountain Square.

        Filling The Frame: About half of the company's revenues come from the sale of original canvases and fine art prints, including signed and numbered limited-edition prints. The Carls specialize in Cincinnati artists; Fabulous Frames is the largest dealer of Charley Harper works in the country.

        Virtual Gallery: Potential customers can view some of the company's 4,000-plus prints by logging onto www.fabframes.com.

        Marking A Milestone: Fabulous Frames & Art is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month.
