Riverfest dining reservations all but taken
By Polly Campbell
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Question: I'd like to watch the Riverfest fireworks from a restaurant table instead of down by the river. Where can I go?
Answer: For heaven's sakes, get a move on. Several of the riverfront restaurants have special fireworks-watching deals, but you'll have to act fast to grab one of the last few tables. (Other restaurants will be open for charity fund-raisers only.)
Don Pablo's in Newport sells tickets, one per seat in the restaurant, and serves a dinner buffet, after which you can move outside to watch the show. It's $85 outside, $60 inside ($60 outside and $35 inside for those 17 and under.) (859) 261-7100,
Zebo's Bistro at the Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter in Covington offers a buffet, a 90-minute time slot for dinner and a wrist band for the balcony. It's $69 per person and includes tax and tip, but only early time slots are left. (859) 392-3750.
The Celestial in Mount Adams has a few reservations left for its special five-course meal. It will include pan-seared Chilean bass and a spinach-wrapped and sweet garlic confit stuffed veal filet medallion. After dinner, you can linger over chocolates, truffles, petit fours, coffee and tea to watch the fireworks. It's $115 per person, not including tax and tip. 241-4455.
You may find a few seats available at Mike Fink's (859-261-4212) and South Beach Grill at the Waterfront (859-581-1414), both in Covington, though probably not by the windows.
