Congrats


XU senior gets D.C. internship

        David Endres, a senior majoring in history at Xavier University, was awarded an internship with the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C.

        The graduate of Stephen T. Badin High School is the son of Christina and James Endres of Fairfield.

Doctorate degree

               Rebecka Rutledge received a doctorate degree in philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. She has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature at Miami University, Oxford.

        Ms. Rutledge is the daughter of Billie Rutledge-Killens of Kennedy Heights and Vince Rutledge Sr. of Montgomery.

Arbor Day awards

               Felicity Middle School fifth-graders participated in a contest sponsored by the Felicity Garden Club to honor Arbor Day. Receiving awards were:

        Posters: 1st Prize — Krista White, Lindsay Gullett, Taylor Pauly and Jordan Grooms; 2nd Prize — Falisha McCann, Katie Crase, Ashley Hall and Tyler White.

        Original Writings: 1st Prize — Ashley Eubanks, Jessica Tull, Morgan Kaplanis and Sarah White; 2nd Prize — Jim Robertson, Buck Campbell, Traci Hayslip and Carol Rider; 3rd Prize — Jamie Hafner, Ashley Evans, Holly Tatman, Brandon Mane and Nicole Sharp.

        All winners received a T-shirt and a Colorado Blue Spruce tree.

Gold Award

               Emily Doerger has earned the Girl Scouts of America's highest award — the Gold Award. A scout for 13 years, she created a permanent volunteer resource center of scrapbooks for the volunteers and residents of Alois Alzheimer Center in Greenhills as her community service project.

        The daughter of Linda and Timothy Doerger of Mount Healthy is a senior at St. Ursula Academy.

Senior Airman

               Jennifer Anderson, an information security technician with the 43rd Communications squadron at Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, N.C., was identified for early promotion to Senior Airman in recognition of her superior performance and qualifications.

        The Finneytown High School graduate is the daughter of Judy and Michael Labanz of Finneytown.
