Next Generation sets schedule for 2001-02

Musical vegetables, opera singers from another planet and Pied Piper of children's music Tom Chapin are part of the 16-event line-up for the 2001-2002 Rosenthal Next Generation Theatre Series at Playhouse in the Park.
All performances are at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 and 2 p.m. in the Rosenthal Plaza that connects the Playhouse theaters, unless otherwise noted.
The schedule:
Oct. 20 The Jack Sprat Low Fat World Tour, a rock 'n' roll musical about food and health.
Oct. 27 Tom Chapin, a three-time Grammy nominee and called the best family artist around by Billboard magazine. 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. only in the Marx Theatre.
Nov. 3 Echoes of Earth and Sky: A Journey into Native American Dance, Song and Storytelling
Nov. 10 Peter and the Wolf and Other Musical Stories featuring Quintessence Woodwind Quintet.
Nov. 17 The Wild, Wild Word Show, featuring storyteller and hammer dulcimer virtuoso Malcolm Dalglish.
Jan. 12 Mask Messenger by The Faustwork Mask Theater uses more than 20 masks in a mix of monologue, physical comedy and theater.
Jan. 19 Storyland features storyteller David Novak and his comic spin on some classic fairy tales.
Jan. 26 Andes Mata, four brothers who are natives of the Ecuadorian Andes, use more than 35 traditional instruments to bring the prehistoric music to life.
Feb. 2 Bi-Okoto Drum and Dance Theatre perform Nigerian dances, songs and drumming techniques.
Feb. 9 The Maestro featuring Mark Jester combines mime and musical mayhem.
Feb. 23 Earth Tales: Stories of Our Planet features Next Gen favorite Lu Ann Adams with a new collection of stories.
March 2 A Bride from Pluto stars Cincinnati Opera Outreach Ensemble in a musical story about a spoiled young man who discovers a spaceship in his back yard.
March 9 On the Move brings juggler and movement artist Peter Davison back to the Playhouse.
March 16 Prairie Orchid: Folk Music for Families features Sarah Goslee Reed and Lisa Hill in a concert of folk, bluegrass and country-flavored songs.
April 6 A Web of Tales features Ugandian Namu Lwanga weaving together music, dance and lots of audience participation.
April 20 Aesop's Fables featuring the Lexington Children's Theatre.
Performances last 40-60 minutes and are appropriate for ages 5 or 6 and up. Tickets are $4 for 18 and under and $5 for adults.
