Weston Gallery to spotlight local artists in 11 exhibits

Cincinnati artists will predominate in 11 exhibits set for the Aronoff Center's Weston Art Gallery in 2001-02.
The season will include three ambitious site-specific projects that reimagine the gallery's street-level space at Seventh and Walnut streets:
Three Landscapes (Sept. 14-Dec. 1) by Joel Otterson, and Filter by Fred Ellenberger will use both the interior and exterior window wall above the gallery space. Irato is a sound installation by Anthony Luensman (one-half of Saw Theater). The latter two installations show April 12-June 8.
The schedule: Sept. 14-Nov. 10: Janet Speier, Raveling & Unraveling the Social Fabric and Thomas Phelps, Reflections I; Nov. 16-Jan. 19: Surface-Active, a group exhibition of abstract painters including Cincinnatians Mark Fox, Joseph Winterhalter and Ryan Woods.
December: Gulliver, new video creation by Nam June Paik; Jan. 25-March 30: On the Way to Morning, Drawings by Lisa Jameson and Guardians Against Ignorance, Paintings by Leslie Shiel.
March: CANstruction, the fourth year of the design/build competition of structures made of canned and packaged food.
April 12-June 8: Michael Scott, The Diaries of the Little Red Hen.
June 14-Aug. 31: Cincinnati Modern, Art and Design at Mid-Century starts in 1939 and traces the significant Cincinnati personalities and events related to the acceptance of the modern art aesthetic.
The exhibit will feature paintings, prints, photographs, furniture, architectural designs, books and catalogs; and Keith Benjamin, Sculpture.
The annual InterMedia weekend of films, video and live appearance is scheduled for fall 2002.
