$100K is OK with 5-number lottery winner
The Cincinnati Enquirer
COVINGTON Jerry Helmig missed being a multimillionaire by one number. But he's happy to take the $100,000 for matching five numbers in Wednesday's Powerball drawing.
Mr. Helmig, 60, a Middletown resident who works at AK Steel, claimed the $100,000 from the winning ticket he bought at the Cork 'n Bottle liquor store here.
He collected his prize a check for $68,500 after federal and state taxes were taken out at the Kentucky Lottery Corp. headquarters in Louisville Friday morning.
I started shaking when I found out I had won, Mr. Helmig said.
Mr. Helmig matched all five numbers but missed the Powerball by one.
My number was 11 and the Powerball number was 10, he said.
No one won the major Powerball jackpot in Wednesday's drawing. Another drawing for the $280 million jackpot will be held at 10:57 p.m. tonight.
