EKU names woman president
The Associated Press
RICHMOND, Ky. JoAnne Glasser, an executive vice president at Towson University in Maryland, has been named the 10th president of Eastern Kentucky University. She will replace Bob Kustra, who stepped down in June to work for the Council of State Governments, a consulting organization.
Ms. Glasser will become Eastern's first female president. She will start Oct. 29. Eastern Kentucky is a wonderful place to learn, to live and to work, Ms. Glasser said. I look forward to continuing to expand Eastern Kentucky University's role in offering opportunity, support and cooperation.
Ms. Glasser has been the executive vice president of institutional advancement at Towson since 1999. She was vice president of institutional advancement from 1995-99 and executive assistant to the president from 1993-95.
She has a bachelor's in political science from George Washington University, a law degree from the University of Maryland and a certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Institute of Education Management.
