STEUBENVILLE, Ohio A man who says he has killed at least six people and was charged in one death led authorities around this eastern Ohio city Friday, looking for the bodies of two of his alleged victims.
No bodies were found, but investigators uncovered evidence linking Steve Moorehead and another man to the death of a woman whose body was found Wednesday, said Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla.
Today was a fruitful day, Sheriff Abdalla said.
Mr. Moorehead, 39, of Brilliant, and Fred Horner, 38, of Steubenville, appeared in Jefferson County Court on Friday and were charged with murder in the death of Becky Mitchell, 33, of Steubenville.
Neither entered a plea and no bond was set.
Her burned body was found Wednesday near Fernwood State Forest, about five miles from Steubenville, Sheriff Abdalla said.
Mr. Moorehead told authorities where to find Ms. Mitchell after he was arrested in Indiana and said he had killed three women in Ohio, Sheriff Abdalla said.
Mr. Moorehead also said he had dumped one of the bodies in the Ohio River and placed another in an oil drum, the sheriff said.
It was a great rush for him, Sheriff Abdalla said.
Wearing handcuffs and an orange prison uniform, Mr. Moorehead accompanied authorities Friday on the searches. Divers and dogs searching the Ohio River found women's underwear. Bloody clothing authorities believe belonged to Ms. Mitchell was found at Horner's home in Steubenville, Sheriff Abdalla said.
Mr. Moorehead has admitted killing at least six people five women and a man he ran over, Sheriff Abdalla said.
