Two arrested in boy's fatal BB shooting
The Associated Press
CLEVELAND Two young men have been arrested in a fatal drive-by BB shooting that apparently began as a prank two days before one suspect arrived at college, police said Friday.
Both will be charged with murder in the death of Raymond Bozak, 13, who was shot in the back Tuesday while picking pears with friends, Police Chief Martin Flask said. The men were in the Cuyahoga County Jail Friday.
Andre Beasley, 18, of nearby Euclid, was arrested without incident about 12:30 a.m. Friday at his University of Toledo dormitory room. The freshman had arrived on campus Thursday.
The man police say was driving the car, Dontell Lassiter, 19, of suburban North Olmsted, was arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday at his job at a Wal-Mart in North Olmsted.
An anonymous tip to the Crime Stoppers hot line led to the arrests, Chief Flask said.
He said the shooting apparently began as a random prank. Investigators found no known connection between the teen-ager and the suspects.
Dr. Robert Challener, deputy Cuyahoga County coroner, said the BB penetrated skin, muscle and membranes to enter a lung, where it nicked a blood vessel.
