Kenton library adds to online services

COVINGTON — Users of the Kenton County Public Library can now access most library services online at www.kenton.lib.ky.us.

For the past few years, the library has offered limited service through its Internet site, but it has recently been updated and now offers more services and research capabilities.

Browsers can join a free online book club, access the library's catalog, search a number of electronic databases, and get information about Northern Kentucky community organizations.

Besides research options, there is a genealogy link on the library's Web site that has been updated to include family files, newspaper indexes, records on cemeteries, cities, businesses and churches and online databases including Kenton County Census Records from 1810-1880.

Some of the library's online services require a library card. To obtain one, you must have a valid photo ID and prove residency in Kenton County. If an ID does not have a Kenton County address, a water or phone bill can be used as proof of residency. Residents outside of Kenton County can get a card by showing a current library card from their county of residence.
