Bonds watch: No homers
PHOENIX On a night when teammate Luis Gonzalez hit his 49th home run, Randy Johnson kept Barry Bonds from hitting his 57th.
Johnson walked Bonds twice and Bonds went 0-for-2 in the Diamondbacks' 4-1 win over the Giants Tuesday night. Through 132 games, Bonds is three homers ahead of Mark McGwire's pace to the record 70 in 1998.
Reggie Sanders homered for the fifth time in five games as the Diamondbacks won their eighth home game in a row to boost their division lead to 3 1/2 games over San Francisco and Los Angeles. The Giants lost for the fourth time in five games to slip into a second-place tie with the Dodgers, who were playing Colorado.
Sanders and Gonzalez each hit two-run homers off Livan Hernandez (11-13) to give Johnson an early 4-0 lead. Sanders' home run was his career-high 30th.
Byung-Hyun Kim pitched the ninth for his 14th save in 16 chances.
