Developers submit for Banks project
The Port of Cincinnati Development Authority announced Friday that it has received 12 submittals from developers who would like to build the riverfront neighborhood known as The Banks.
Port Authority officials, however, refused to release the names of any of the developers or contents of their proposals.
In June, the Port Authority asked interested developers to send them documents outlining their qualifications to work on the project. The deadline for those submissions was Friday.
Tim Sharp, interim president of the Port Authority, said the documents are not being made public because they contain sensitive financial information.
Passenger killed in Colerain Twp. crash
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - A passenger was killed late Thursday on Springdale Road when the driver of the vehicle he was riding in lost control and drove off the side of the road.
Jeramy W. Cline, 19, of Cincinnati was pronounced dead at the scene about 11 p.m., Hamilton County Sheriff deputies said.
Police say Mr. Cline was riding in a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer east on Springdale Road east of Gaines Road when the driver lost control. Mr. Cline was ejected.
Andrew G. Albright, 20, of Colerain Township, driver of the Blazer, was in serious condition at University Hospital Friday.
Woman faces charges of vehicular homicide
MIDDLETOWN Carolyn Little, 40, faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 70-year-old pedestrian.
Charles Edgar Soule Jr. died June 2, 17 days after a vehicle struck him as he stood in his driveway in the 3100 block of Yankee Road.
A police report says that Ms. Little's 1993 Chevrolet Lumina was swerving erratically and went off the road's right side, striking Mr. Soule.
Police said Ms. Little's vehicle continued down the road and crashed into Dick's Creek, about three-fourths of a mile away.
Online applications for medical school
The University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine has developed an online application to get around problems in a national system. Applicants for the 2002 entering class must register on UC's Web site: www.onli neapp.med.uc.edu even if they have applied on the site run by the American Medical College Application Service.
Further, they must complete the UC application if indicated after on-line registration. There is no fee for this application.
UC urged early decision applicants to do this by Wednesday.
Alleged madam indicted for massage parlor
HAMILTON An alleged madam of a prostitution operation in a Middletown massage parlor has been indicted.
In an indictment made public Friday in Butler County Common Pleas Court, Nam K. Mun faces charges of promoting prostitution and soliciting.
Authorities allege she operated a prostitution ring at the Clover Spa, 3925 Roosevelt Blvd. That business and the VIP Oriental Spa at 3585 Commerce Park were raided April 3.
The alleged madam of VIP, Sue Salvatore, has been indicted on charges in Warren County.
Miami students arrested for drugs
OXFORD Two men who were students at Miami University last year face drug charges.
Benjamin Harold, 20, was indicted Friday on charges of trafficking in LSD, possession of LSD, possession of marijuana and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oxford police found more than 40 hits of acid at Mr. Harold's residence on April 19, said Craig Hedric, a Butler County assistant prosecutor.
Mr. Harold's roommate, Steven Losie, 20, faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.
