What's the Buzz?
Roselawn firm binds PGA event's program
By John Eckberg
The Cincinnati Enquirer
When thousands of golf fans left the PGA's NEC Invitational last weekend, they took home a little bit of Cincinnati. Printer's Bindery of Roselawn bound the 137-page glossy program for the tour event at Firestone Country Club, south of Akron.
A bindery up in Columbus had the job and their pieces fell apart. Officials called us. We knew how to solve their problem and got the job as a result, said Ron Trotter, president of Printer's Bindery.
Binding jobs for at least two more professional golf events are in the works with an opportunity for up to 10 more tournaments in the months to come, Mr. Trotter said.
The firm also expects to be in the hunt next year for binding jobs for programs for other professional golf events, including the ladies and senior tours.
The company, which employs 60 at its Roselawn facility, has also found a lucrative niche in recent years by binding computer games and discographies.
It binds millions of pamphlets and guides annually for compact discs and computer-game instruction booklets, including a recent job of binding 800,000 pieces for Diana Krall's new CD The Look of Love.
A guide earlier this year for the Madden NFL 2002 PlayStation 2 football game topped 1.4 million bound pieces.
