Man shot dead outside city motel
By Jim Hannah
The Cincinnati Enquirer
A man was shot to death outside a University Heights motel early today, and Cincinnati police were using dogs to search for a female suspect.
Police responded to a 911 call from the motel in the 3200 block of Central Parkway shortly before midnight. Officers at the scene were trying to determine the identity the victim, found next to a car behind the Traveler's Inn, formerly a Travelodge. Investigators wanted to know if the man was a guest at the motel.
Police said they didn't know how many times the victim, described as a black man, was shot. They also said they didn't know what type of gun was used or how many shots were fired.
Gabe Trainer, 23, of Camp Washington, a clerk at the motel, said he wasn't aware of the shooting until police entered the lobby and told him to lock the doors. He said there is a lot of drug activity and some prostitution in the area of the shooting.
The female suspect also is black, police said.
The slaying was the city's 38th homicide this year, and the 24th since April's riots.
