Meth labs broken up; 3 charged
Sites found in Verona, Crittenden

COVINGTON Three people were arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court on federal drug charges after local and federal law enforcement officers said they put two methamphetamine labs out of commission.
James Paine, director of the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, said Strike Force agents, federal Drug Enforcement Administration officers and Boone County sheriff's deputies arrested the three on felony charges after gathering information over a period of about two months.
We confiscated a total of six canisters of anhydrous ammonia (used in the manufacture of methamphetamine) from the two locations, Mr. Paine said. It was enough to blow a house off the foundation.
Jefferson M. Hamilton, 20, of Verona, and Brandon Goodman, 20, of Florence, were arrested at a lab in a wooded area off Stevenson Road in Verona and were charged with possession and manufacture of methamphetamine.
Police found a semiautomatic 9mm rifle and a shotgun at the lab, and Mr. Paine said firearms enhancement will be added to the charges.
Authorities developed information at the Verona location that led to the second lab, in a house in a residential area on Alexander Road near Crittenden. Brian L. Kendrick, 20, of the Alexander Road address, was also charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.
Ingredients used in the manufacture of the drug, including anhydrous ammonia, were taken from the house. All three suspects were being held at the Boone County jail.
This is a dangerous drug, and manufacturing it is dangerous, Mr. Paine said.
It's certainly not what you want to find in your neighbor's house.
