Shooting suspect, 84, ends standoff
The Associated Press
DAYTON, Ohio An 84-year-old man suspected of shooting his son and an office manager at a mobile home park and briefly taking two women hostage surrendered peacefully early Friday.
Harrison Barger had held police at bay from a trailer for more than eight hours. No charges were filed immediately.
There were some issues that involved the family that prompted the shooting, Dayton police Lt. John Barnes said.
Police said Mr. Barger shot his son, Bill Barger, 50, in the arm and then shot office manager Wayne Burkett in the face. Bill Barger was in fair condition and Mr. Burkett in serious condition.
