Ky. man hurt in gunfire with police
ERLANGER A 25-year-old man was in critical condition Sunday night after exchanging gunfire the night before with Erlanger police and then turning the gun on himself.
Terry Moss, whose last known address was Florence, was taken to University Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
Mr. Moss fired a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol at Erlanger police officer Patrick Yarusso, who had approached Mr. Moss's car outside Howard Johnson's Express Inn at Interstate 75 and Donaldson Highway after determining the man had an outstanding warrant for first-degree robbery. Officer Yarusso and Sgt. Darryl Jouett returned fire, hitting Mr. Moss. Mr. Moss then shot himself, police said.
The two officers are on paid administrative leave, a routine procedure, while the incident is investigated.
