Three die after truck collision
The Associated Press
SALVISA, Ky. Three people died in Mercer County over the weekend after their pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler and burst into flames, police said.
Kentucky State Police had not released the names of the victims Sunday night.
The collision occurred about 11:55 p.m. Friday, when a pickup truck carrying four people pulled out into the right lane of U.S. 127, according to police.
A tractor-trailer driven by Michael Hays of Clarksville, Ind., shifted into the left lane to go around the pickup, said Mercer County Deputy Coroner Scott Moseley.
The pickup also moved into the left lane and the 18-wheeler hit it. A 23-year-old male was ejected from the pickup. He was taken to James B. Haggin Hospital in Harrodsburg, where he was treated and released. Mr. Hays was uninjured. Mr. Moseley pronounced the other victims dead at the scene.
