Tips if you're flying
If you're traveling by air through Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport this weekend, here are some tips.
Call before you go or check your flight's status via the Internet. Delta Air Lines, the dominant carrier at the airport, operated about 10 percent of its normal schedule Thursday. Additional flights will be added as the weekend progresses, but some cancellations are likely. Some airlines, such as United, are not resuming operations until today, so that will make the restart process slower.
Allow extra time and be patient. Get to the airport at least two hours in advance. Additional security measures are going to take more time and may take longer than you're accustomed to.
Limit your luggage, including what you carry on. More searches are being made. The more luggage you and other passengers have, the longer delays could be.
If you have a Delta electronic ticket, carry your receipt. If you don't have it, you must go to the ticket counter and obtain it before going through the security checkpoint.
Access past security at all U.S. airports now is limited to passengers with tickets or boarding passes. Your friends and relatives won't be able to join you at the gate.
Don't try to park your truck or other large vehicle in the Terminal 3 (Delta) garage. They're not being allowed. You can park in the Terminal 1 and 2 garages but be prepared for a long walk.
Leave your pocketknife at home. Otherwise, you'll have to give it to security agents.
