John Broe, 25, was indicted on two counts each of aggravated murder and murder, and one count of tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors said Shannon Broe, 24, was killed Sept. 7 and her body was thrown from a car along an off-ramp of Interstate 71.

The indictment alleges that Mr. Broe returned to the scene and hid the body in a more secluded place near the highway.

A subsequent autopsy showed that Shannon Broe was 20 to 25 weeks pregnant, resulting in the additional charges.

“It appears the victim's brutal slaying followed an altercation at the (couple's) home and that the defendant purposely disposed of his victim's body with the purpose to hide evidence,” Prosecutor Mike Allen said.

The maximum penalty Mr. Broe could face is two life prison terms, Mr. Allen said.

Mr. Broe is in the Hamilton County Justice Center in lieu of $1 million bond.
