Scouting the marketplace with Joy Kraft
Geo. Mod. Pop. Op. Retro.
Circles, squares, spheres and triangles in Popsicle colors optical candy for the design set is showing up in stores that cater to the college-age children of the Mod Squad and Flower Power generation.
Pillows, throws, bedspreads, lampshades, picture frames, underwear and outerwear have gone graphic in new high-tech, low-maintenance fabrics. But the colors are the same strong black and white, pond green, Indian turquoise, Kool-Aid purple, pastel-on-pastel combos and earthy stripes of rust and brown.
Here's a sampling from Urban Outfitters, housed in a restored church at 2510 Ohio Ave., Clifton Heights.
