Insatiable shopper

Scouting the marketplace with Joy Kraft

        Geo. Mod. Pop. Op. Retro.

Circles, squares, spheres and triangles in Popsicle colors — optical candy for the design set — is showing up in stores that cater to the college-age children of the Mod Squad and Flower Power generation.

Pillows, throws, bedspreads, lampshades, picture frames, underwear and outerwear have gone graphic in new high-tech, low-maintenance fabrics. But the colors are the same — strong black and white, pond green, Indian turquoise, Kool-Aid purple, pastel-on-pastel combos and earthy stripes of rust and brown.

Here's a sampling from Urban Outfitters, housed in a restored church at 2510 Ohio Ave., Clifton Heights.
