By Gregory Korte

The two candidates for Cincinnati's mayor may not be debating again any time soon, but the debate on debates is in full swing.

Mayor Charlie Luken criticized his opponent, Courtis Fuller, Tuesday for refusing to agree to a scheduled debate Thursday on WXIX-TV (Channel 19).
It's clearly an example of his lack of experience in handling serious issues that the community faces, Mr. Luken said. Everybody wants the campaign to be engaged, but he continues to run and hide.
Mr. Fuller responded that Mr. Luken was being a crybaby.
I was at a community council forum in Over-the-Rhine last night. Charlie Luken wasn't there. And so what? I didn't say, "He's ducking me.'
Mr. Fuller said he's decided to attend two debates: one on WLWT-
TV (Channel 5) on Oct. 30, and a second on radio station WCIN.
There are many aspects of campaigning: mailing, advertising, media interviews and one-on-one talks with voters, Mr. Fuller said. And we're going to do all of those, not just what Charlie Luken wants us to do.
