Houston edges Ducks in AHL preseason

Brendan Yarema and Kevin Bolibruck scored third-period goals to lift the Houston Aeros to a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in an AHL preseason game Sunday at Cincinnati Gardens. Steve Aronson also scored for Houston. Derek Gustafson stopped 31 of 33 shots to notch the victory.
Detroit Red Wings prospect Bruce Richardson had a goal and an assist for Cincinnati.
The Ducks open the regular season against Portland at 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the Gardens.

NOTES:
Defenseman Drew Bannister and right wing Jonas Ronnqvist were assigned to Cincinnati by NHL Anaheim.
Bannister, 27, had nine goals and 30 assists for 39 points with 143 penalty minutes in 73 games last season with AHL Hartford. He also was pointless in three games with the New York Rangers. An eight-year pro, the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder was Tampa Bay's second choice (26th overall) in the 1992 NHL entry draft.
Ronnqvist, 28, spent most of last season with Anaheim, recording four assists in 38 games. He also played in 13 games with Cincinnati, with three goals and two assists for five points. A second-year pro, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Swede was Anaheim's fourth choice (98th overall) in the 2000 NHL entry draft.
They bring the Ducks training camp roster to 24 players, including 21 NHL contracted players assigned by Anaheim and Detroit.
The AHL club's radio show on on WBOB-AM (1160) will debut debut 7-8 p.m. today. John Cannon and Greg Waddell will serve as hosts for the show that will air each Monday night throughout the 2001-2002 season from Buffalo Wild Wings in Hyde Park. Ducks president Tom Garrity will be the featured guest on the premiere of Mighty Ducks Primetime.
