What's the Buzz?
Web site is place to vent about UC
University of Cincinnati students now have a way to vent other than boycotting class or taking over the administration building.
An arrangement with the Web company PlanetFeedback (www.planetfeedback.com) allows students, faculty and staff to express their feelings about the university online. On UC's internal Web site, called Blackboard, users can bring up any of 17 subjects, including classes, parking and cafeteria cuisine.
James Tucker, UC's associate vice president for administrative services, said students, faculty and staff have unique perspectives to offer on how the university is run.
But how can we effectively collect feedback from a population of 40,000 on three different shifts, five campuses, 600 departments, living on campus or up to 50 miles away? Mr. Tucker said.
The answer? The electronic sounding board from PlanetFeedback of Cincinnati. Using the PlanetFeedback program allows the university to route all comments, complaints, suggestions and questions to the right person.
PlanetFeedback has become a popular tool in the private sector. Its program is used by a number of companies with consumer products or services.
