NKU reschedules event featuring Cuomo, Keyes
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS A canceled Northern Kentucky University lecture featuring Mario Cuomo and Alan Keyes has been rescheduled for Nov. 27.
Mr. Cuomo, the former Democratic governor of New York, and Alan Keyes, who ran for the GOP presidential nomination, were originally scheduled to speak at NKU's Highland Heights campus Sept. 18. But the event was postponed in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

Kenton jailer to launch campaign
COVINGTON Kenton County Jailer Terry Carl will officially kick off his reelection campaign tonightwith a fund-raiser at the Strasse Haus tavern on Main Street in Covington.
The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Suggested contribution is $35 a person.
Mr. Carl is a Republican elected in 1998 who is seeking a second term next year. So far he is not facing a challenger.
Britney Spears tickets
go on sale Saturday
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for Britney Spears' Nov. 10 concert at Firstar Center.
Tickets will be available at the Firstar Center box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, by phone (562-4949) and online (ticketmaster.com). Price and show time have not been announced.
Program encourages moms to read to their babies
COVINGTON Baby Outreach, a program to introduce new Kenton County mothers to the importance of reading to their babies, is being offered through the Kenton County Public Library and the home visiting nurses of the Northern Kentucky Independent District Health Department.
Four visiting nurses will deliver the packages during the next 12 to 24 months to new mothers in Kenton County who are receiving home visits from the WIC/home visiting unit of the health department.
The literacy packages include a toddler book in English or Spanish, a library card application and a bilingual flyer describing the lap-sit story-time program at the library.

Singers' concert to benefit ministries
ERLANGER The Northern Kentucky Brotherhood Singers will present a benefit concert for United Ministries on Oct. 6.
The concert will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church.
Although the concert is free, an offering will be taken. Tickets are required, however, since seating is limited.
Tickets can be obtained by calling United Ministries at (859) 727-0300. They also are available at area churches, including Fort Mitchell Baptist, Erlanger Baptist, Gloria Dei Lutheran, Immanuel United Methodist, St. Henry Catholic Church, Erlanger Christian and Anchor Church.
Kenton library branches closed for day Oct. 12
COVINGTON All locations of the Kenton County Public Library will be closed for a staff day on Oct. 12.
The library system will reopen at 10 a.m. Oct. 13.
