Countdown
Ozzy cometh: Nov. 14, heavy-metal icon Ozzy Osbourne roars into Firstar Center with his Night Of Merry Mayhem Tour. Opening the 6:30 p.m. show are Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and Soil. Bargemusic: They reach 20,000 people a year, playing on, yes, a barge in the East River, Brooklyn, New York. It won't quite be the same as sitting on a barge but Bargemusic members will open the Cincinnati Chamber Music Society season at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Corbett Auditorium. The six musicians (including Toby Hoffman, viola, Nathaniel Rosen, cello and Kurt Kikkanen, violin) will play Schumann's Piano Quintet and more. Tickets: $20; $7 students; CCM students are free with ID. 533-0451 or 556-4183.
Opera doc: Cincinnati Film Society unveils La Cenerentola, a documentary work-in-progress by Cincinnati filmmaker Steve Gebhardt on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cincinnati Art Museum, 953 Eden Park Drive.
Shot on digital video in the summer of 1999, the documentary traces the work of the Opera Theater of Lucca with 130 students and 30 faculty at the annual summer program sponsored by the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Tickets are $5, or $4 for CFS members, CAM members and students with a current ID. 251-6060.
FYI
Conductor James Conlon, music director of the Cincinnati May Festival and chief conductor of the Paris Opera, will be Artist of the Week on the A&E Channel's Breakfast with the Arts, 9 a.m. Sunday. Mr. Conlon, who is in town to conduct the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival Chorus in Benjamin Britten's War Requiem this weekend, will be interviewed about his Carnegie Hall appearance with the Cincinnati forces (Tuesday in New York).
Mr. Conlon will be on TV again, in The Cliburn: Playing on the Edge, a 90-minute PBS-TV documentary about the 11th Van Cliburn Competition, 9:30 p.m. Oct. 17.
