Bond issue OK'd to widen Butler Co. intersections
By Steve Kemme
The Cincinnati Enquirer
HAMILTON Butler County commissioners on Thursday approved the financing for major improvements at Princeton Road and the Ohio 4 Bypass.
The commissioners agreed to issue $2.4 million in bonds that Fairfield Township will repay through a tax-increment financing fund.
Construction can begin Oct. 15 at the intersection, in a high-growth area that is attracting commercial development. The project is expected to be completed by Dec. 21.
A Home Depot store will open Oct. 17, and a Wal-Mart will open April 1 at the intersection.
Other developments in the area include Murphy Oil, a Wendy's restaurant, the Regency Center strip plaza and two national restaurant chains.
The plans include: adding four lanes on Princeton Road west of the Ohio 4 Bypass, adding three lanes at the Winford Avenue-Princeton Road intersection and adding turn lanes on Princeton, east of the Ohio 4 Bypass.
Plans also call for adding three lanes extending 350 feet north and south on Ohio 4 Bypass, raising Princeton Road east of the Ohio 4 Bypass to improve safety, and adding signals at the Ohio 4 Bypass and Princeton Road and at Winford and Princeton. This will help us control traffic and maintain safety, said Ron Randolph, Fairfield Township administrator.
