State offers traffic options for Deerfield Twp. project

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP The developers of a 54-acre residential and retail project off Montgomery Road must meet Ohio Department of Transportation standards before the traffic portion of the project can move forward.
Cincinnati-based Bear Creek Capital and Edwards Communities are developing Nantucket Apartments, consisting of 444 upscale, multifamily apartments, and Shoppes of Nantucket, which might feature high-end shops and a Fifth Third Bank.
The location of a traffic light and access points along Montgomery Road are expected to be decided at the Oct. 16 township board of trustees meeting. The trustees said they will choose from four options offered by ODOT, which will dictate the configuration of traffic.
Tim Hershner, the township's zoning and planning director, said he recently met with Jay Hamilton, traffic planning engineer for ODOT's District 8, about the project.
His position is you can have a light at either existing Townsley Drive or Winding Lane, but whichever one doesn't get the light has to be limited or it has to go away. So the challenge is: Which road is easier to make go away? he said.
Trustees President Larry Backus said the other matter to be resolved is: What will be the entrances and exits? Will they be right only? Will they be no left turn? Will they be right turn/left turn?
