Man sticks to claim of killing spree
The Associated Press
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio A man who claims to have killed six people over the summer says he isn't lying even though he has been linked to only one death.
Only time will tell, Steven Moorehead told the Herald-Star in an interview at the Jefferson County jail. That is all I can say. They still haven't found Jimmy Hoffa yet. Does anybody think he is alive? I don't.
Mr. Moorehead, 40, and Fred Horner, 37, of Steubenville, have been indicted on a charge of aggravated murder in one slaying and were being held without bond.
The burned body of Becky Mitchell, 33, of Steubenville, was found Aug. 22 about five miles from this eastern Ohio industrial city.
Mr. Moorehead told Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla where officials could find Ms. Mitchell's body and led Sheriff Abdalla to where Mr. Moorehead claimed to have left other bodies.
But no other remains were found in a week's search, and the sheriff has said he won't resume searching unless a body is found. The sheriff, who sat in on the newspaper's interview on Sept. 25 with Mr. Moorehead, said investigators will concentrate on processing blood evidence to determine if there are other victims.
