The Associated Press
COLUMBUS Two Ohio Army National Guard companies were activated Saturday to provide airport security.
The 1-107th Armor Battalion from Stow and 1-147th Armor Battalion from Cincinnati will replace soldiers from Company C of the 1-148th Infantry, according to the Office of the Adjutant General.
The 1-148th was initially activated for airport security, then was sent to Fort Knox, Ky.
The 1-107th and 1-147th will join the 838th Military Police Company from Youngstown and the 324th Military Police Company from Middletown to provide security at Akron-Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Youngstown-Warren airports.
A total of 104 soldiers will be activated from the four units for airport security. It is unclear how many Guard members would go to each airport.
