Congrats


University of Toledo dean's list

        The following were named to the spring semester dean's list at the University of Toledo, Ohio:

        Kimberly Farley, a freshman adolescent education and English major and the daughter of Eula and Charles Farley of Colerain Township. She is a Northwest High School graduate.

        Freshman Courtney Rost, a Mason High School graduate and the daughter of Jeanne and Mark Rost of Mason.

Scholarship winner

               Clermont Northeastern High School graduate Melissa Miller has received an Abbott Scottish Rite Scholarship from the 32 Degree Masons of Cincinnati in recognition of scholastic and all-around achievements.

        The daughter of Terri and Tom Miller of Goshen is attending the College of Mount St. Joseph.

UC gives award

               Jamie Lentz is the 2001 winner of the $27,000 Pearl M. Wright Award at the University of Cincinnati College of Education. It is given annually to a fourth-year student who demonstrates high moral and academic standards of a primary school teacher.

        Ms. Lentz, of Mount Lookout, is majoring in early childhood education and plans graduate work in special education. She has volunteered with disabled children since sixth grade and has worked with autistic triplets for three years.

Foundation awards

               The Georgia-Pacific Foundation has awarded scholarships, administered by the National Merit Scholarship Foundation, to the following children of employees:

        Nicholas Imholte, a homeschooled student who plans to major in math. He is the son of Beth and John Imholte of Finneytown.

        Cara Biser, a graduate of Turpin High School who will play basketball at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. She is the daughter of Suellen and Scott Biser of Anderson Township.

Army awards medal

               Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Marcia Henry has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal, awarded to individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties.

        The Hughes Senior High School graduate is the daughter of Florenza Smith of Mount Auburn.
