LPGA Pink Ribbon Pro-Am is Sunday

The third annual Ethicon Endo-Surgery Pink Ribbon Pro-Am will feature a three-hour women's golf clinic at the Golf Center at Kings Island on Sunday. The clinic, sponsored by Fidelity Investments, will begin at 1 p.m, conducted by top teaching pros of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division. For a $100 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the LPGA's official charity, women of all ages and abilities can participate in the clinic and learn how to swing, chip and putt from top LPGA teaching professionals. To register, call toll free: 866-522-PINK (7465). The pro-am will feature 26 LPGA touring pros. Among them are Hall of Famers Kathy Whitworth and Sandra Haynie.
Middletown's Marianne Morris, Val Skinner and breast cancer survivor Shelly Hamlin are among the LPGA pros expected to play alongside the 100 amateurs in a scramble format. The tour players will hold an exhibition at 10 a.m. Sunday. The pro-am tees off at 11 a.m.
The LPGA Tour and title sponsor Sports Today said Monday they have canceled the tournament in South Korea next week because of the military action in Afghanistan.
U.S. WOMEN'S MID-AMATEUR:
Martha Leach of Hebron, Ky., defeated Natalie Galligan of Wellesley, Mass., 1-up in 20 holes in the third round at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.

MIGHTY DUCKS:
NHL Detroit assigned right wing Ladislav Kohn to AHL Cincinnati. Kohn, 26, scored seven goals and 14 points with 86 penalty minutes in 77 games combined last season with Anaheim and Atlanta. In 179 career NHL games, seven-year pro has scored 14 goals and 41 points. The Czech native was Calgary's ninth choice (175th overall) in the 1994 NHL entry draft.

NORTHERN KENTUCKY:
The sixth annual Highland Heights Skyline Chili Meet the Norse Night will be Oct. 17 from 6-9 p.m. in NKU's Regents Hall.
The public is invited free of charge to attend the event, which will feature intrasquad scrimmages by both the Norse men's and women's basketball teams.
In addition, all NKU student-athletes will be in attendance to meet the public.
Free chili three-ways will be provided.
Space is limited. The doors open at 6 p.m.
