Hughes Center gives scholarships

        The Hughes Center Parent Teacher Student Organization has awarded scholarships to Nancy Jerrolds of the Health Professions Program and Herbert Monford of the Zoo Academy.

Leadership award

               Graduating senior Jennifer Kodros received the St. Julie Billiart Christian Leadership Award from Mount Notre Dame High School. The award is presented to a student who has distinguished herself by reflecting the values of Jesus in her relationships with her family, friends and community.

        The daughter of Lakme and Jim Kodros of West Chester Township is majoring in theatre at Indiana University, Bloomington.

Student volunteers

               Amy Keswick was a Landmark Volunteer this summer at Kelmscott Farms in Lincolnville, Maine. The farm is dedicated to the preservation of rare and endangered breeds of farm animals. Landmark is a service organization that offers high school students the opportu nity to work at one of 52 nationally recognized historical, cultural, environmental or social service institutions across the country.

        Ms. Keswick, a Wyoming High School graduate, is the daughter of Beth and Bruce Keswick of Wyoming.

Scholarship given

               Brad Obermeyer is one of 20 students awarded scholarships through the Pella Rolscreen Foundation's Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program for 2001. Recipients were selected on the basis of ACT/SAT scores, class ranking, school and community activities, leadership qualities, letters of recommendation and essay questions.

        Mr. Obermeyer is a freshman at Ohio State University studying marketing in the Honors Program. The graduate of St. Xavier High School is the son of Sharon and Joe Obermeyer of Anderson Township.

ROTC scholarship

               Jordan Feinstein has received an Air Force ROTC College Scholarship. Most ROTC scholarships cover full tuition, provide a textbook allowance, pay most laboratory or incidental fees, and provide a monthly allowance to recipients.

        Upon graduation from college and completion of the ROTC program, Mr. Feinstein will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. The graduate of Sycamore High School is the son of Jamie and Jeff Feinstein of Symmes Township.
