Oh, Big Boy: Frisch's has record sales
Big Boys seemed to gain summer popularity with Frisch's Restaurants Inc. reporting record sales for its quarter ended Sept. 23.
The Cincinnati-based chain said Monday that for its fiscal first quarter, revenues rose 16.3 percent to almost $63.2 million from $54.3 million in last year's first quarter.
Frisch's CFO Donald H. Walker said the gain was due to higher traffic in the restaurants, successful marketing and slight menu price increases.
Net income from continuing operations rose to almost $1.99 million, or 39 cents a share, from the year-ago period's $1.97 million, or 38 cents a share. Including the two hotels that Frisch's sold over the last year, earnings were down from almost $2.36 million, or 45 cents a share.
