Deal reached on pancreatic test
By James Pilcher
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Newtown-based Meridian Bioscience Inc. on Monday said its European subsidiary had reached a distribution agreement with ScheBo Biotech AG to market the German firm's pancreatic diagnostic test.
Meridian Bioscience Europe Srl. will market the test in Europe. The test detects a key chemical insufficiency that can indicate pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, pancreatic cancer and diabetes mellitus.
The company says pancreatic disease affects 150 million people worldwide, making early detection of potential problems critical.
It will be offered in conjunction with a unique test for the early detection of tumor metastasis and chemotherapy follow-up.
Meridian's stock was up 22 cents on the news, closing at $5.22 Monday.
