Linda Love puts on a show

By Joy Kraft
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Fashions by Love: The colorful creations of designer Linda Love will be on the walkway at the Este Conference Center Saturday. The 8 p.m. show will follow hors d'oeuvres at 7 p.m. at the center, 6270 Este Ave., Winton Place. The show will include children's clothes, suits, coats, dresses, formals, tuxedoes and wedding designs.

Ms. Love, a native of Asheville, N.C., who moved to Cincinnati in 1963, has been designing and making clothes since her years at Hughes High School. She owns Linda Love's Boutique on Gilbert Avenue.

Tickets — $25, $12.50 for ages 12 and younger — available at the door or from TicketMaster, 562-4949. Part of the proceeds from the event will go to the youth ministry at Olivet Baptist Church in Silverton.

New home for Designer Discount Days: This year, bargain hunters will be going to Longworth Hall, 700 W. Pete Rose Way, downtown, for the National Council of Jewish Women's Designer Discount Days. The shopper's paradise, Nov. 3-4, will include racks of new and nearly new designer clothes for men, women, teens and children at savings up to 80 percent. The sale benefits Teen Dating Violence Prevention, Hamilton County Youth Conference, Lifestrides and One Way Farm for Abused Children.

        Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 3 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 4. Admission: $1. Visa and MasterCard accepted. Information 241-3444.

Faux furs: A trunk show of Donna Salyers Fabulous Fauxs will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 3 at Bella Donna, 1115 Congress Ave., Glendale (772-3377). The women's store also will be featuring a line of Italian handbags from Mussio & DeGroot (Lisa Mussio and Missy DeGroot, graduates of the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning).

The shop also will present jewelry from Diane Katzman, who uses sterling, semi-precious stones, gold vermeil and antique beads in her creations.

Costume cam: To get folks into the Halloween spirit, the president of the Web site BuyCostumes.com is wearing silly costumes every day during October. Jalem Getz donned a bunny suit the first day, but the remaining costume choices are up to online voters. CostumeCam photos will be updated daily at the Web site. Check out www.buycostumes.com.
