No charges in police shooting
The Associated Press
COLUMBUS Two police officers who shot and killed a man they said lunged at them with a knife during a domestic disturbance will not be charged.
After listening to conflicting testimony from 15 witnesses, a Franklin County grand jury deliberated for 90 minutes on Friday before deciding not to indict officers Gary Bowman and Julie Leach in the June 25 shooting death of Leonard Moore.
After a fair hearing, I think that was a correct resolution, said Ed Morgan, first assistant county prosecutor.
The officers said they fired at Mr. Moore, 37, as he rushed toward them with knives. Mr. Morgan said some witnesses supported the officers' claim, but others said Mr. Moore was unarmed.
