Three up for Mason board
By Sarah Buehrle

MASON Growth is the buzzword in the Mason School District Board of Education race in which four candidates are vying for three four-year positions on the five-member board.
Board President Marianne Culbertson, Vice President Dave Lenert, and two-year board member Connie Yingling are up for re-election. Debbie Delp, mother of four and a former employee of the Mason-Kings-Landen Chamber of Commerce, is the newcomer.
Mrs. Culbertson, campaigning for her third term and a member of the building committee during the design of the new high school, and Mrs. Yingling both campaigned in 2000 for the successful $71.9 million-bond issue to build the school.
Mr. Lenert, former board president, said that the future board would have to work to restructure grades in the buildings when the new high school is built.
Both Mrs. Culbertson, former board vice president, and Mrs. Delp, former PTO president at the Mason Heights and Western Row elementary schools, said rebuilding a relationship with the teachers' union is a priority.
If elected, Mrs. Delp plans to initiate a Web site for community feedback on school policies.
